Free software forbiden in France

Message from FSF France, for urgent distribution: Because pressure from music and film industry, the french gouvernement wants to forbid free software before christmas. Music industry is ready "to sue free software authors who will continue to release their source code", saying that "if they do not give up, they are going to be forced into changing the licence".

Migration informations

Globulation 2 is hosted at this wiki at the moment. We plan to move it to mediawiki in order to add more advanced logins and eventualy to integrate it with the forum/bugzilla/etc in the future.

I (moa3333) did a search and found how to integrate phpbb in mediawiki: here. Other solutions, there is a huge discussion right now on the wikipedia mailing list to comletly integrate phpbb in the talk page of the mediawiki but for this we must wayt the next release i guess...

I have already used pywikipediabot to move hundred of pages from wikisolutions to the howto. I have had to modify a bit the original script however (i still have the modified version). There is a page about interwiki and one about bots in general. The point is that i can easily push many pages into mediawiki if they are in a single file with separators. Also some find/replace could solve problems related to the syntax. The main problem is how to extract the pages from the old wiki. I don't know if this is better than manual migration in this case because the wiki syntax is diferent.

Hosting solutions: i just found tuxfamily - a french association that could help if we make regular and automatic backups. I asked validation for project globulation under glob2 username (globulation2 was too long...)

Migration news

05/12/2005 : We have finished the mediawiki/phpbb users integration. From now on, each person has the same account on both mediawiki and the forum. You need only to register once (mediawiki or phpbb). You can access the forums with the link "players forums" on the left.
